Te Reo o Te Rangatahi Insights Report
The Te Reo o Te Rangatahi Insights Report (2019–2020) shares what matters most to rangatahi Māori across Whanganui, Rangitīkei, and Ruapehu. Over 1,500 comments were gathered through workshops, interviews, and digital engagement, giving powerful insight into the lived realities of young people.
Key themes include the importance of belonging, cultural identity, safe environments, trusted role models, and supportive whānau. Rangatahi also expressed aspirations for leadership, learning, and meaningful opportunities to shape their futures. At the same time, they raised concerns about trauma, social media pressures, anxiety, and global issues like climate change.
This report reminds us that rangatahi are not just future leaders – they are active contributors today. By valuing their voices and creating spaces where they feel heard, connected, and supported, we can help nurture thriving generations.
